Working in the dental field is somewhat of a family business. My father was an orthodontist, my brother is an oral surgeon, his wife is a dentist, and my wife is a dental hygienist. I consider my patients to be part of this family and I like getting to know them and learning about their lives. I love solving the puzzle of poorly aligned teeth and seeing a beautiful smile at the end of treatment. I also am a very hands-on orthodontist and I do not delegate everything to my assistants. I really enjoy placing the braces, bending the wires, and getting truly involved in all aspects of care.
Education
- Doctor of Dental Surgery - Indiana University School of Dentistry
- Master of Science in Orthodontics - Indiana University School of Dentistry
Continuing Education
I have recently taken continuing education courses on Temporary Anchorage Device usage in orthodontics. I am also a certified provider for Invisalign and I regularly take continuing education courses for Invisalign. There is always more I can learn and I want to continue learning about orthodontics and many other subjects in my life.
Outside the Office
I have been living in Elkhart since childhood, and now reside here with my wife, Cindy, and our menagerie of animals. We have a dog named Ansel and our cats, Kitty and Tiger. When I have free time I enjoy photography, watersports, hiking, mountaineering and time spent on Shavehead Lake. Cindy and I take long walks with Ansel and enjoy spending time with our family and friends.
I am very involved in the community where I work and live. I've been a member of the Rotary Club for 18 years and am a member of the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce, the Concord, Central, and Middlebury Dollars for Scholars program, and am a trustee of the Midwest Museum of Art.
